Darby play, St. Patty's Day

Celebrate Saint Patrick's Day this year with real Irish people.
A real favorite among locals, Darby O'Gill and the Little People will have a busy schedule Wednesday.
Between their bouts of binge drinking throughout the day, they will be playing several shows around town. Between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Darby and the gang will split up to play two different shows at the same time.
Lead singer Darby O'Gill will take four backups to the House of Blues, where the band will play three 45 minutes long sets of their well known brand of Irish rock. However, rock does not describe their music completely accurately.
The group plays a wide range of covers, as well as, a few originals, like "Gates of Hell," a song questioning why Darby landed in Hell. They also play covers of songs ranging from "Whiskey in the Jar," a traditional Irish song, to Outkast's "The Whole World," to a less punk version of Drop Kick Murphy's "Dirty Glass."
While Darby is drinking himself stupid at the House of Blues, the rest of the band, along with a guest singer, will be doing some heavy drinking of their own at McMullan's Irish Pub across the street from The Orleans Casino. The band plays this venue every Wednesday as well from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
After those two shows, the band reunites at Fado Irish Pub in the Green Valley Ranch for a 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. show. Drunkenness is guaranteed to reach new heights at Fado, likely to be one of the most crowded places in Las Vegas for St. Patty's Day. The pub is guaranteed to be packed and the line will probably snake all the way out of the casino, so get there early. Besides, the earlier there, the more drinking can be done, and everyone knows that St. Patrick is synonymous to beer.
Darby O'Gill and the Little People will also have a CD release party for their first record on Tuesday at Fado Irish Pub.
The band also plays at Fado every Friday and Saturday between 10 p.m. and 1 p.m. |
